“Cloudways (which is owned by Digital Ocean) No help from Cloudways when a website was infected with malware. I had purchased the malware protection plan, but they did not deliver on that promise. 3 days of chat with support, going in circles. Moved my websites away and closed my Cloudways account.”

“Read before migrating here! Very Important! 1. They limit both the size of your servers, as well as the number of servers you are "allowed" to buy from them - which isn't obvious until you are in desperate need of them. 2. Right after approving us to purchase additional servers and another few days of migrating websites over to them, they SHUT OFF ALL OF OUR SERVERS to "VERIFY OUR ACCOUNT" !! 3. No phone number whatsoever. Don't trust a company with a low review and no phone number. Shame on you guys. Imagine being responsible to literally thousands of small business owners, and their "Plan A" account verification is to call your usage "ATYPICAL" and shut off your servers? Common...”

“We just switched our first server from AWS to digital ocean and the first day, our droplet is down! No one is able to help. Support says it’ll take a few hours but that is horrible. We are a new startup and we have press releases, influencers promoting us, ads running, all for nothing when it’s down! Be cautious. I will update this review if there are no problems moving forward but as of now, be cautious. I was thinking about moving all our clients to digital ocean but now I won’t until I ensure this is not usual performance.”

“I learned about DigitalOcean through an online survey of server hosts and thought I would give them a try. But I did not get past the sign up stage. The response from my initial inquiry was from an anonymous support person who complained that my online presence was not prominent enough. I am not sure what that has to do with anything. Subsequent responses harped on about suspicious, inconsistent, and atypical activities. I was using their form to sign up for their services, nothing more. At the time of signing up they were offering a promotional deal granting $200 to be used toward the first two months' fees, but by this point it was clear they had no intention of honoring their promise, nor did they intend to keep me as a customer. No skin off my nose, there are hundreds of alternatives. But since they, as a hosting company, were denying me hosting services, I insisted that they purge any and all information about me that I had provided during the sign up, but I was told it was "their" security policy that once an account was locked, it cannot be unlocked and nothing would be deleted. As a result of this ordeal, it seems to me that their promotional offer is nothing more than a fake inducement to persuade unwitting customers into providing personal information. I do not know to what end but I do know information harvesting when I see it. Since this time, I have learned that the company's IP's have been blocked on a large scale, and customers have had no more luck dealing with DigitalOcean's support than I experienced. When all is said and done I feel fortunate to have dodged a bullet. Do yourself a favor and run away from DigitalOcean. At best, they are a frustrating migraine waiting to happen; at worst, they will steal anything you have on their servers and very likely cost you big bucks. Do not allow yourself to be seduced by their lies.”
